JKSG in cooperation with IGOV and AIFIS organized a Public Lecture on “Moslem in Western Imagination and The Criticism”. The Public Lecture was Given by Prof. Sophia Rose Arjana and Dr. Zuly Qodir. Highlighting the role of western media. Prof. Arjana mentioned the media bias influences in shoping of western perspective in viewing the moslim community.
Most of western media are too focus on the middle east with emphasize on war and conflicts. His focus is however not without reason when there are phenomenous on radical movement using the name of Islam.
Meanwhile the majority of Moslem Community outside the middle east are of the spotlight by the western media. For example succesful story of the development of democracy in Indonesia is not being covered enough.
