Social Media and Millennial Voters

2019 is an important year to determine future leader for 5 years. As a democracy system, general election Indonesia on Wednesday, 17 April 2019. KISP (Komunitas Independen Sadar Pemilu) is one of community in Indonesia support clean election. Friday (8/3/2019), KISP has collaborate with Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JKSG) , Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Government Science. The target of KISP is Millennial Generation with public lecture.

The topic of Public lecture is “Social Media and Millennial Voters”. According to KISP, Social media is product of technology advances used daily activity. Media social as strategic to promoting and information and possibility there are 40% millennial voters. In the public lecture has speakers are Hamdan Kurniawan, S.IP., M.A as commissioner KPU DIY and Tunjung Sulaksono as Lecture of Master Government Sciences. Besides that, moderator in seminar is David Effendi, S.IP,.M.A and Moch.Edward Trias Pahlevi,S.IP has coordinator KSIP.

The impact from media social give influence for millennial generation. Pro and Contra from candidate in election pairs news it’s not true. Hamdan Kurniawan said “millennial generation can be smart use social media to get information and choose leader based on their vision and mission” also Tunjung Sulakso argued “the negative impact from media social related to general election will be selection based on fact and truth”. The important role of millennial generation impact for development Indonesia itself.Hopefully, with public lecture can be impact for mindset society to choose new leader in Indonesia.
