On 26-27 July 2017, one of International Program of Government Affairs and Public Administration (IGOV) student, Lubna Salsabila, participated in The 5th Asian Academic Society International Conference (The 5th AASIC): Multidisciplinary Perspective of Local Wisdom; The Past, Present, and Future ASIA at Khon Kaen University, Thailand. The 5th AASIC organized by the Indonesian Students Association in Khon Kaen University and supported by The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia for the Kingdom of Thailand. The 5th AASIC itself aims to provide the answer to complexity problem from sharing knowledge and experience among Asia countries through integrated research from many talented researchers. The purpose will bring many benefits to support any policy makers in Universities, Governments, Non-Governmental Organizations, and many practical researchers who concern to establish the challenging solving problems in Asia. The continuous program of AASIC can be utilized to expand networking among experts, professionals, practitioners, and students to keep updated with the current issues of the multidisciplinary studies in health sciences, business, economics, education, art, social sciences, natural science, engineering, technology, and agriculture.
The conference which was held for 2 days followed by 116 participants that divided into 2 types of panels, 92 oral presentations, and 24 poster presentations. By classifying sub-theme into 3 groups, 41 presenters in Health Sciences category, 51 presenters in Social Sciences category and 24 presenters in Engineering, Food Technology and Agriculture. The first day activities included the opening speech by the keynote speaker from Coordinating Ministry of Politics, Law, and Security of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Lutfi Rauf, M.A and the guest speakers from Khon Kaen University, Assoc. Prof. Wongsa Laohasiriwong followed with Dr. Stephen M. Whitehead an internationally recognized author, consultant, and researcher on gender, sexuality, identity management, and relationship. Also, Prof. Dr. Kapti Rahayu Kuswanto, a Professor of food technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
Moreover, Lubna Salsabila (IGOV’s student) became one of the presenters of the event by presenting the paper that she work on together with Eko Priyo Purnomo, Ph.D., titled “Establishing and Implementing Good Practices E-Government (A Case Study: e-Government Implementation between Korea and Indonesia)”.
