UMY join the world Indonesianist Congress; Building a Better Future of Indonesia

Sunday (21/10/19) Unversitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta joining a program of The world Indonesianist Congress with other university in Yogyakarta included Universitas Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta State University, Institute art of Yogyakarta, and other.
The theme of congress is “Building a Better Future of Indonesia: Toward a Tolerant, Vibrant, and Creative Society” which held to raise the knowledge of Indonesian culture through the Indonesianist’s point of view.  The event inaugurated with Welcoming Remark by Dr. Abdurrahman Mochammad Fachir as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
he congress continued with the Plenary Session on 15 October 2019 and presented several prominent speakers. There is Lt. Gen. (ret) Agus Widjojo (Governor of Lemhanas); Dr. Siswo Pramono, LL.M (Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs BPPK); Dr. Siti Ruhaini Dzuhayatin, MA (Presidential Special Staff on International Religious Studies); M. Fajrin Rasyid (Co-Founder & President of Bukalapak); Luwi Saluadji Purbodiningrat (KADIN Indonesia); Ade Putri Paramadita (culinary expert) and many more. Meanwhile, on the last day, the Panel Session started to discuss the findings of young Indonesianists through the presentation.
Generally, “Indonesianists” derived for academics, researchers or foreigners who have a keen interest in Indonesian issues.  The congress attended by more than 400 academics, researchers, and international students who studied in various fields of study, as well as lecturer-guests from some prominent institutions in Indonesia, including the United States, Australia, Gambia, Germany, Myanmar, Russia, China, East Timor, South Korea, Japan, Jordan, and many more.
