In order to meet the challenges of globalization and become one of the leading centers in Southeast Asia, the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta is committed to improving the quality of education. The Jusuf Kalla School of Government is a motivation to enhance the quality of education, especially in the areas of effective leadership and good governance that are expected to provide benefits to universities and large communities, such as civil societies, politicians, and bureaucrats.
Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JKSG) was established in Yogyakarta on July 15, 2011 upon the appointment of the Chief and Secretary of Jusuf Kalla School of Government at the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta in accordance with Rector’s Decree No. 120/SK-UMY/IX/2011. The establishment of JKSG is a tribute to Dr. (HC) HM. Jusuf Kalla for his rendered services to Indonesia, especially his role in the process of conflict resolution in Aceh, Poso, and Ambon. Hence, due to his revolutionary, fast, agile, responsive, and target-oriented leadership style, he became an inspiration to local and international leadership development organizations.
Currently, JKSG offers several programs: undergraduate programs, master’s degree or postgraduate programs, doctoral programs, and executive programs. Each program is based on an international curriculum and adapted to local contexts in order to develop the intellectual capacity, competency, skills, and professionalism of the graduates. Also, Jusuf Kalla’s of Government executive program offers a high-quality curriculum designed to meet the market’s needs in the era of globalization.
Other than the programs mentioned earlier, JKSG also has a research program that focuses on the study of leadership, conflict resolution, and public policy issues. Second is the student-exchange program in cooperation with several universities abroad, such as Korea University, University Science Malaysia, and Thailand’s Thammasat University, among others. Third, JKSG invites professors with competent credentials from the National University of Singapore, Flinders University in Australia, Doshisha University of Japan, Korea University, and University Science Malaysia. JKSG also grants academic scholarships to deserving master’s and doctoral students. Finally, an international conference is held every year in collaboration with strategic partners abroad. This program encourages publishing in JKSG publications as diverse as active journals, books, video newsletters, and other multimedia.
As an institution committed to improving the quality of education, Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JSKG) also provides various support facilities that are adequate for the operation of daily lectures, such as a library, computer laboratories, American Corner, Iranian Corner, and Language Training Center, among others.
