Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) was mandated to host Indonesia Robot Contest (2018) after hosting a similar contest in 2015. The mandate encouraged UMY to provide best services in all aspects, particularly the venue, for the contest.

Coordinator of the venue of KRI 2018 Bagus Soebandobo, S.T., M.Eng. stated that it was an honor for UMY to be the host of the KRI 2018. “After selected by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemeneristekdikti), we immediately discussed all contest preparation, including fields of each contest category which should be in accordance with rules and regulation of the KRI 2018. We sought to prepare for the fields well since all participants from various universities showed their best robots,” told Bagus in an interview on Saturday (14/7).

Bagus added that the KRI committee prepared all contest categories, namely Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI), Indonesia Humanoid Soccer Robot Contest (Humanoid KRSBI), Indonesia Wheeled Soccer Contest (Wheeled KRSBI), Indonesia Fire-Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI), and Indonesia Dance Robot Contest (KRSTI). “Arenas of the KRAI and Wheeled KRSBI are used 2.5-meter plywood, while the Humanoid KRSBI arena employs the best synthetic grass and oil pain,” he explained.

For two months, UMY checked, designed and measured the venue well. Indeed, KRI juries and Kemenristekdikti did direct control to the venue. “The preparation aims to succeed the KRI 2018. We also care about the venue comfort for all participants,” ended Bagus.
