UMY's Missions: Increase The Human Dignity

Taichung, Taiwan (13/5/2019). Held on Mei 13th, 2019 at Ando Lecture Hall Museum of Modern Art, Asia University Taiwan, Dr. Gunawan Budiyanto explained that one of the missions of UMY is to increase the human dignity as part of advancing the human values and civilization. This mission assigns UMY to be aware of human welfare through social responsibility program. It is as a form of awareness of the importance of disaster management.
“There must be participation from society in implementing disaster management consist of mitigation, emergency response, and recovery. The involvement of private institution and volunteer group must be improved through a program of Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction”, said by Dr. Gunawan Budiyanto, Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in Asia University President and Rector Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and Regional Revitalization 2019.
Meanwhile, the Director of International Relations Office UMY, Yordan Gunawan explained that this forum is designed to discuss the role of the university in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ agenda. President of Asia University, Professor Jeffery P. Tsai started the presentation by showing the university’s program which supporting the SDGs.
