Becoming a professor is the culmination of a career as an academic lecturer, besides Prof. Dr. Nano Prawoto, SE., M.Sc., serves as Vice-Rector II for Human Resources, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. When contacted on Thursday (28/01), Nano said that most of the research he had carried out had the theme of Economic Growth in Indonesia in his career as an academic. “The issues of economic growth including poverty, unemployment, trade balance deficits, and economic inequality are issues that need to be addressed.
To get to Professor’s title, one of the studies that Nano promoted was entitled The Influence of Macroeconomic Variables, Processing Industry, and Education on Indonesian Economic Growth with variables that influence including HDI (Human Development Index), Consumption, Investment, and Import. In this research, he found something that was unique and contrary to economic theory, namely that one of the variables, an increase in HDI, had a negative effect on economic growth, whereas the increase in HDI should also increase economic growth.
