Information Systems Bureau of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta (BSI-UMY) held a Data Admin Website Journalism Training in the Meeting Room of AR Fachruddin B Building, Thursday (1/9/2020).
This training was filled by a Permanent Lecturer of Communication Studies Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UMY, Dr. Fajar Junaedi, M. Si and attended by 50 participants from the Faculties, Study Programs and other Work Units in the scope of UMY. In front of the participants of the @fajarjun twitter account, outlining the points of the science journalism format, according to him in compiling news stories, they are not required to have authentic evidence such as photos, videos, knowing about problems, opportunities and barriers to public access.

“Nowadays there are many unbalanced news that even tend to be subjective, this needs to be avoided, the way is to find out the main problem, then look for objective data so that the news we publish has positive value to the public”

Fajar, who has been active as an editor in several national reputable journals, also actively writes in a number of national news stories that convey several news bases. He asserted that make science news more down to earth, simplify science, deal with numbers as well as terms that are more easily understood by the public.
The same opinion was said by Sumardi, the staff was also the admin of the website of the Jusuf Kalla School of Government (JKSG-UMY), who participated in the event acknowledging that this training was very useful for future website development.

“I have participated in journalism training several times, but there are different things presented in this training, we were presented with material and practices on science journalism. Generally the journalist training which is often carried out is just the basics of journalism, this time it is on a different level, the Science Journalism explained by the Resource Personnel then we practice turns out to be more productive, in the future it can be developed and become routine for writing in National and International news “.
